Dec/2005  IGIST has been awarded a contract to perform spatial analyses on logging skid trails for the US Forest Service in 3 national forests in California.

The locations of logging skid trails were collected by the Forest Service through the use of GPS equipment. IGIST was tasked to put these data into a GIS and develop a spatial model to analyze trail density. By running this model against a skid trail network, a map can be produced depicting segments of trails in terms of their proximity to other trails. The model can be run against mapped skid trails in other forests—it isn't restricted to a single set of data.

Nov/2005  IGIST has been awarded a contract to perform web development for OMNI, a social science research company based in Denver, CO.

Additionally it allows the mapping and graphing of how much money is being spent on various social issues throughout the state. Thus the database helps match "funders" with "fundees", and vice versa, and so streamline the funding of projects in the areas of the most need. IGIST, as a subcontractor to Elroi Consulting, is helping OMNI deploy this database on the Internet, and incorporate GIS into the website.

Oct/2005  IGIST has been contracted by Del Rey Systems and Technology to develop a proto-type of a Fire Navigation System to be deployed at fire departments.

IGIST, in turn, is responsible for developing a geodatabase, converting the roads data, performing QA/QC work on the data, and publishing a map of the roads for the BLM.

Sept/2005  IGIST has been contracted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Juneau, AK to update parcel data for BIA allotments in Alaska.

IGIST will scan the subdivision layer from microfiche, and then will perform heads up digitizing off of the resulting TIFF images. In other instances polygons will be created from survey coordinates. Attribute data will be entered and linked to the polygon data. The result will be an up-to-date GIS subdivision layer for BIA allotments in Alaska.

Sept/2005  IGIST has been awarded a contract to develop a customized cartography course for the US Forest Service.

The USFS Geospatial Service and Technology Center (GSTC) in Salt Lake City has tasked IGIST to develop a 5 day course entitled Cartographic Principles for Resource Applications using ArcGIS. The course is being designed to teach the principles and concepts of cartography, as well as the use of ArcGIS to create a variety of map products required by the US Forest Service. An additional phase is included in the contract, to update the course curriculum to ArcGIS 9.2, after its release in 2006.

August/2005  IGIST has been contracted to provide a GIS Intranet application to the San Diego Airport Authority.

The San Diego Airport Authority requires an Intranet application providing access to a map of the network of the airport's electrical system. IGIST will develop a database to depict relationships necessary to produce decision-making maps. Airport Authority managers and analysts would then have the ability to review the various elements of the electrical system on this Intranet application. Should a piece of electrical equipment fail, the related features down the line would immediately be known.
