Oct/2006 IGIST has been awarded a professional services contract by the US Forest Service Region 6 to develop a course entitled Editing in the Geodatabase Environment.
The US Forest Service is transitioning into an enterprise geodatabase environment. With this transition comes the need to train GIS personnel to efficiently edit the geodatabase and to better understand the topology concepts associated with this data model. This course specifically addresses this situation, helping migrate GIS editors from the coverage environment to the enterprise geodatabase environment.
Sept/2006 IGIST has been awarded a contract by the USFS Geospatial Service and Technology Center (GSTC) to work on training curriculum development in support of the USFS migration to the ArcGIS 9.2 platform.
The USFS and the BLM have identified common needs and so have developed the Service First Initiative to undertake cooperative ventures that benefit both agencies. IGIST will be spearheading the GSTC interests in this course, and will work with both BLM and USFS personnel, to develop content that reflects USFS/BLM workflows, and also to develop some USFS-specific modules.
Aug/2006 IGIST was brought on as a team member on Sanborn’s 5 year contract to provide geospatial services to the NOAA Coastal Services Center.
Immediately upon joining the Sanborn team, IGIST was awarded a task order under Sanborn’s IDIQ contract. IGIST will be teaching 2 instances of a course IGIST previously developed for the NOAA Pacific Services Center in Honolulu. These courses will be taught in January 2007, in Saipan and in American Samoa.
Aug/2006 IGIST was brought on by ESRI as a subcontractor to revise a course on ArcSDE for the USFS Geospatial Service and Technology Center (GSTC).
ESRI developed a course specifically for the USFS called Managing the ArcSDE Geodatabase for the USFS. This course must be modified to reflect the significant changes to the USFS’ nation-wide use of the ArcSDE Geodatabase. ESRI has tasked IGIST to revise this course and teach a pilot course this fall in Oregon.
Aug/2006 Ongoing contracts with local government agencies to provide on-site GIS support have been renewed for another year.
IGIST’s contract with LAFCO (San Diego County Local Area Formation Commission) and a contract with the City of La Mesa have both been renewed for another year. IGIST provides onsite GIS support for both of these agencies. Tasks include data conversion, database development, day-to-day map requests, parcel inquiries, and GIS analysis for various special projects.
Aug/2006 The BLM Safford Field Office awarded IGIST a contract to perform database development in support of the upcoming Gila District Resource Management Plan.
The Safford Field Office is going to be preparing a Resource Management Plan (RMP) for about 1.4 million acres of BLM land in southeastern Arizona. The Field Office has contracted with IGIST to assist in the preparation of various geospatial data that will be required as part of the RMP. IGIST activities will include needs assessment, data conversion, and general GIS support, both on-site and off-site. Additionally an intranet site will be developed to provide documentation of the various datasets required by the RMP.
Aug/2006 The USFS Pacific Northwest Region has awarded a contract to IGIST to develop an ILT (instructor lead training) course called Geodatabase Editing Fundamentals.
This course will be developed to address training needs of both the BLM and the USFS. Both the BLM and the USFS are transitioning into the enterprise Geodatabase environment, and as they do so they must become comfortable performing edits in this environment. This course is designed to address this growing need in the USFS and the BLM.
Aug/2006 IGIST continues to provide a variety of on-site GIS courses to several federal GIS agencies.
Throughout the spring and summer, IGIST has regularly performed on-site training for various governmental employees. This includes standard ESRI courses, instruction with Trimble and Garmin GPS equipment, and a variety of custom courses developed for specific IGIST customers. Courses have been taught throughout the United States to the BLM, USAF, NOAA, and the USFS.
July/2006 The BIA in Juneau, AK has awarded a contract to IGIST to develop a CBT (Computer Based Training) course.
To support GIS activities throughout the 12 ANCSA (Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act) regions, IGIST has been tasked to develop DVD-based learning content to be distributed out to tribes and tribal organizations in Alaska. Termed the GIS Start-up Workshop and Library, this DVD will provide information on setting up a Tribal GIS in an effort to promote quality and consistency in tribal GIS activities.
July/2006 IGIST was awarded a contract by the USFS Geospatial Service and Technology Center (GSTC) to explore the use of e-Learning tools (that is, CBT, or Computer Based Training) as an alternative to traditional face-to-face instructor led courses.
IGIST will describe the various technologies involved in developing effective on-line training content. Additionally, a description will be provided on how LMS (Learning Management Systems) can handle administrative tasks like course registration, student status tracking, and student evaluations. IGIST will convert 2 chapters from the USFS Applied Cartographic Concepts class into an e-Learning format, to demonstrate this technology.
July/2006 The BIA in Juneau, AK, has awarded IGIST a contract to update Native American allotment parcels throughout Alaska
As the BIA continues to update their subdivision layer for Native American allotments in Alaska, they have modified an existing contract with IGIST to allow for the digitizing of 3,300 additional parcels. IGIST will scan the subdivision layer from microfiche, and then will perform heads up digitizing off of the resulting TIFF images. In other instances polygons will be created from survey coordinates. Attribute data will be entered and linked to the polygon data. The result will be an up-to-date GIS subdivision layer for Native American allotments in Alaska.
June/2006 IGIST was awarded a contract by the USFS Geospatial Service and Technology Center (GSTC) to develop a course for the ArcGIS PLTS extension.
IGIST has been tasked to develop a 3 day course by the GSTC for the ArcGIS PLTS (Production Line Tool Set) extension. This course is designed to teach USFS personnel how to effectively use PLTS for Geodatabase editing and for data review and for quality control. IGIST has enlisted BAE Systems as a subcontractor to provide their PLTS expertise for this curriculum development effort.
Mar/2006 IGIST has been awarded a contract to develop a Housing Infill Application for the City of Los Angeles, Dept. of City Planning.
Through an Environmental Justice Grant from CALTRANS in 2005, Solimar Research Group, based in Ventura, CA, developed a prototype of a GIS-based infill development tool for the City of Los Angeles. The actual application, to be deployed at the City of Los Angeles Department of City Planning, is being developed in a joint effort by Solimar Research Group and IGIS Technologies. The application will allow city planners, in accordance with SCAG's 2030 projections, to manipulate scenarios and analyze potential growth at different geographic scales, including neighborhoods, community planning areas, and city-wide.
Jan/2006 IGIST has been awarded a contract with the Western Riverside Council of Governments to perform analysis of potential sites for infill development.
WRCOG is working to analyze existing conditions and land use, in an effort to support regional planning goals to promote smart growth objectives. IGIST, as a subcontractor to PSOMAS, has been tasked to support WRCOG's regional planning objectives by developing a methodology to use the California Infill Parcel Locator, developed at UC Berkeley, to identify parcels for infill development.
Jan/2006 IGIST continues to win follow-on work to provide application development and testing services to the New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination (NYS CSCIC).
Since the original contract in September of 2005, IGIST has been awarded two follow-on contracts.
